Life at ECU

Our 20 residents living at William A. George Extended Care Facility enjoy a full-spectrum of services. Residents receive coordinated care by a multi-disciplinary team that includes physicians, a nurse practitioner, Wiichi’iwewin workers, a dietician, physiotherapists, an occupational therapist, a speech/language pathologist, daily nursing and activation staff.

Activation staff provide ongoing, planned physical, social and recreational activities (e.g., exercise, music programs, crafts, games). These activities enhance our residents’ sense of well-being and promote or enhance physical, cognitive, and emotional health. These include, but are not limited to, activities that promote self-esteem, pleasure, comfort, education, creativity, success, and independence.

Volunteers complete the experience including but not limited to pastoral care services, visitation, singing and gardening. We believe in resident and family centred care with a restorative approach that focuses on dignity and respect.

Additionally, our residents are supported by SLMHC’s Traditional Program, which includes Miichim and Interpreter services.
