The Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre in partnership with Shibogama First Nations Council, has completed a video to encourage young women and families in our communities to breastfeed their babies. The video is called ‘The Creator’s Gift to Mothers’ and can be viewed on Youtube at the following link:
The video was funded by the Government of Ontario with the support of the Best Start Resource Centre at Health Nexus. Generous support was provided by Kasabonika Lake Health Authority and a number of breastfeeding mothers in Kasabonika First Nation. Pamela Angees is our very competent narrator. Ontario Native Women’s Association and Sunset Women’s Aboriginal Circle in Sioux Lookout provided valuable assistance and the Sioux Lookout Women’s Hand Drum Group graciously allowed us to use their drum song entitled “The Parents Song”.
