Prenatal and Maternity
Our Services During COVID-19
The Integrated Pregnancy Program (IPP) continues to operate while following safe guidelines and the best care for expectant parents. Patients coming into IPP are allowed one essential care partner, and as with all patients/visitors/staff at SLMHC, everyone is expected to wear a mask and practice good hand hygiene.
We are now allowing up to two essential care partners for inpatients. At the start of the COVID pandemic, we limited laboring mothers to one essential care partner. Your essential care partner(s) must be pre-identified and will be required to wear personal protective equipment during your labour or caesarian section. We are not currently allowing visitors into the maternity ward, aside from essential care partners and thank you for your understanding as we prioritize your health and safety.
We have created a FAQ section with some common questions about COVID-19 and pregnancy, and our services in IPP and Maternity here at SLMHC.
If you have any additional questions, please speak to your healthcare provider or call our switchboard at (807) 737-3030.
(Updated August 19, 2020)
Having a baby? It can be an exciting and anxious time! Here at SLMHC we have a labour and delivery unit (obstetrical unit) staffed by a team of registered nurse and physicians. Our maternity floor consists of three state-of-the-art labour and delivery rooms, and five post-partum beds.
Integrated Pregnancy Program
We offer pre and post natal services through our Integrated Pregnancy Program (IPP). This program also addresses addictions issues, using tapering programs for both parents. A breastfeeding clinic is also part of the IPP portfolio.
The IPP provides service on an outpatient basis and works closely with our inpatient obstetrical unit.
Here at SLMHC, we participate in the Baby-Friendly Initiative, which protects, promotes and supports positive breastfeeding practices.
To reach the IPP, please call (807) 737-3030 ext. 4502 or 4503.
