Remembering Tony Moonias

Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre’s (SLMHC) Board of Directors and staff express their deepest condolences to the family and friends of the late Tony Moonias of Eabematoong First Nation, who passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. 

Tony was a longtime supporter of SLMHC since 2005 and was integral in the establishment of the Traditional Healing, Medicines and Foods Support Program. Tony served on the Elders’ Council since 2008, and his work with SLMHC has guided management in growing and strengthening our organization’s relationship with the people we serve and the First Nation communities in our region. His advocacy, passion for equitable health services and dedication to our patients will never be forgotten.

Everyone here at SLMHC, including our Board of Directors, Elders’ Council, and the senior management team, are going to miss Tony’s presence. We are ever thankful to his wife and his family for sharing him with us. Our condolences go out to them, as well as the community of Eabematoong First Nation in their loss…our collective loss.
