Highlighting our Team: Arianna Kitching

Arianna Kitching, medical radiation technologist (MRT), recently completed training to provide mammography services at SLMHC, and is now fully certified to provide breast screening and diagnostic mammography services.

Arianna Kitching, medical radiation technologist (MRT), has been part of the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre (SLMHC) Diagnostic Imaging team for nearly two years, providing important x-ray and CT services for patients.

Recently, Arianna has completed training to provide mammography services at SLMHC, and is now fully certified to provide breast screening and diagnostic mammography services. She now joins a talented team of fellow MRTs in mammography, consisting of Jordyn Rosiak and Deanna Lance, who provide these crucial services that aid in the early detection of breast cancer.

“I work x-ray and CT, and I’ve been doing that here for about a year and a half. Just recently, in August, I started to get my certification and training for mammography. I’m always interested in further education, and I really enjoy learning. Providing more resources to the community is a goal of mine, and I’m excited to join this really great team here in mammography,” says Arianna.

In her pursuit of further education and training, Arianna says SLMHC supported her by ensuring her schedule would allow her to not only complete her goal, but to accomplish it even quicker. She says she enjoys the tight-knit and hands-on environment at SLMHC, which has opened doors for more experience in her field.

“SLMHC has been great. They’ve accommodated my schedules so I could train and get it faster too… everyone has been great about it,” she says. “I love working here and having a more intimate environment here. I get to work x-ray, CT, and mammography here where in other centres it takes a long time to get further training. I don’t think I’d get these accommodations for training and education elsewhere.”

SLMHC offers physician-directed and self-referred breast screening services to women throughout our catchment area. Women over 40 years of age can call our direct line at 807-737-6579 to arrange an appointment.
