Call for Expression of Interest: Board Member

Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre was created by a special act of legislation that was passed by the Ontario Government in 2001. The legislation specifies that the board of the health centre will have members who represent both First Nations (the “Northern Communities”) and non-First Nations communities (municipalities or the “Southern Communities”). This diverse board oversees the operation of a state-of-the-art facility that offers innovative inpatient, outpatient and specialty services to the people of the Sioux Lookout area. The board has a number of responsibilities for the strategic direction of the health centre and meeting the obligations of the organization as outlined under the Public Hospitals Act.

The board is currently looking for one new board member to represent the “Southern Communities.” These communities include Sioux Lookout, Hudson, Pickle Lake and Savant Lake.

  • Serving on the board is a part-time commitment and a volunteer position.
  • Term of appointment is three years.
  • Board meetings take place bi-monthly.
  • The board is looking for candidates who have experience or knowledge of health or social services and are familiar with governance processes. Other areas of expertise such as accounting, communications, leadership or other relevant skills would also be an asset for the organization.

If you are interested in putting your name forward, please provide a short summary outlining your interest in serving and the skills you would bring to our diverse board.
