New Board Chair for Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre

SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON—Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre (SLMHC) Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Ms. Sadie Maxwell has been appointed as Board Chair. Ms. Maxwell has served as a SLMHC board member for many years. She brings numerous years of experience in governance and is committed to the continuation of our journey toward our vision of becoming a centre of excellence.

Ms. Maxwell replaces both of SLMHC’s co-chairs as they leave the organization to fulfill other passions.  Ms. Barbara Hancock and Mr. Solomon Mamakwa have served on the board as co-chairs for two years and seven years respectively. The Board of Directors sincerely thanks Ms. Hancock and Mr. Mamakwa for their contributions and commitment to the organization.

As board chair, Ms. Maxwell will be a great asset to SLMHC as the health centre continues on its journey to becoming a Centre of Excellence in First Nations and northern health care by working together to improve the health status of individuals, families and communities, now and for generations to come.

In a statement from Ms. Maxwell she notes: “It is an honour and a privilege to work with such an amazing board. I am truly thankful and excited to take on this important new role as board chair. I thank all the former co-chairs for providing mentorship throughout my tenure on the SLMHC Board. I will continue serving SLMHC and the people in our communities in the best manner I can.”
