Celebrating Careers: After 36 Years, Beverly Marciniw says farewell to SLMHC

After 36 years at Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre (SLMHC), Beverly Marciniw is officially entering retirement.
As her manager at the William A. George Extended Care Unit (ECU), Nicole Robertson puts it, “36 years of service is more than a career — it is a legacy. Beverly has dedicated an incredible 36 years to the residents, families, and staff of William A. George Extended Care Unit, leaving an impact that will be felt for many years to come.”
Beverly, who most recently served in a Personal Support Worker role at ECU, looks fondly on her time at SLMHC.
“I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed working with the residents and staff,” she says. “The residents; they’re like family, right? I got very attached to them.”
In a moment of joyous, emotional reflection, Beverly gave some insight into what she will miss most about working at SLMHC.
“The residents and the staff, for sure. It’s the attachment between the residents and you. When you’re not here, they really notice you when you come back. ‘Where have you been?’ Yeah, I’m going to miss that. I will come back and visit though,” she says.
SLMHC would like to thank and congratulate Beverly on her retirement. We are grateful for the contribution she has made to the success of the team, and for the level of care she has provided residents over the years. We wish her nothing but the best as she moves forward.
“I had the privilege of working alongside Bev over 20 years ago, when she was not only a colleague but also a mentor who helped shape and guide me early in my career,” says Robertson. “Her knowledge, patience, and willingness to support others left a lasting impression on me, as it did on so many who had the opportunity to work with her.”
“Today, it feels especially meaningful and full circle to be here as her manager and have the opportunity to thank her for everything she has given to this organization and this community,” Robertson continues. “Bev’s compassion, dedication, and commitment to excellence have touched countless lives and set an example for all of us.”
We are thankful for the lasting impact Beverly has left on her colleagues and residents throughout her time at SLMHC.
“Bev, congratulations on an extraordinary career and a well-earned retirement. Thank you for your 36 years of service, your mentorship, and the legacy you leave behind. We wish you many years of happiness, health, adventure, and the opportunity to enjoy all the moments that your years of caring for others have so greatly earned,” says Robertson.
Beverly says she’s looking forward to getting some rest and enjoying the summer, among other things.
“I’m looking forward to getting some rest and enjoying the rest of the summer. I’ll, maybe, travel a bit too,” she concludes.
