Celebrating Careers: Michelle Beaulne says farewell after 23 years at SLMHC

After 23 years at Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre (SLMHC), Michelle Beaulne is officially saying farewell and entering retirement.
Michelle, who was most recently Director of Corporate Services at SLMHC, began working for the newly amalgamated hospital in January 2003. However, prior to that she worked with Health Canada at the former Zone Hospital since 1987, so she has been serving within the Sioux Lookout healthcare system for, a stellar, 39 years.
She credits the qualities of the staff at SLMHC as her favourite part of working here over the years. She says the passion and dedication of staff has led to monumental achievements throughout her tenure.
“Healthcare is a fast and always changing profession to be in, and while I won’t miss the endless emails, meetings, paperwork and projects, I am very proud of our little hospital and everything that we offer to our surrounding communities and of the major accomplishments we have built over the many years,” Beaulne says. “These are truly the results of the hard work and passion of the people working here and their unwavering commitment to our patients.”
As she moves on into retirement, Michelle notes that she will miss being amongst the different teams at SLMHC on a day-to-day basis.
“I am going to deeply miss the fantastic staff. It has been an absolute privilege to lead and work alongside the incredibly talented and dedicated teams at SLMHC. I can honestly say that I truly loved what I did in my role here and will miss seeing everyone on a daily basis.”
SLMHC would like to congratulate Michelle Beaulne on her retirement. We are thankful for her leadership, commitment, and decades of devoted service and contributions to both our team and the broader Sioux Lookout healthcare community.
“I had the privilege to work with Michelle for over twenty years. She has brought a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the organization through procurement, facilities management, and environmental services oversight. She has taught me the RFP process and how the Broader Public Sector Accountability Act (BPSAA) is implemented and adhered to when sourcing equipment and services,” says Dean Osmond, SLMHC President and CEO. “Michelle leaves big shoes to fill, and will be greatly missed. I wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.”
“While my time working with Michelle has been short, I have truly come to recognize her hard work, dedication, and commitment to ensuring that the hospital’s non-clinical infrastructure and operations functioned as effectively and seamlessly as possible,” says Ramona Quequish, SLMHC Vice President of Corporate Services and Chief Operating Officer. “During this time, I also had the opportunity to see Michelle lead and work alongside her teams, empowering them by optimizing resources and mitigating risks so that the focus could remain on delivering excellence.”
“Michelle has clearly demonstrated a strong and meaningful commitment to supporting patient care throughout her role. It is also important to recognize that during her tenure at SLMHC, Michelle experienced one of the greatest joys a mother could ask for: the opportunity to work alongside her children, Jade Chirila and Shaelyn Beaulne,” Quequish continues. “As Michelle enters the next chapter of her life, I wish nothing but the very best for her and her family. Thank you, Michelle, for the opportunity to work alongside you, even if only for a short time.”
Michelle says she’s looking forward to spending more time with her family, among other things that she enjoys, while making the most of the summer.
“I’m going to take some time to enjoy the summer, read some more, get back into my garden, do some travelling and exploring new places and, most importantly, spend more time with my family and grandson,” Beaulne concludes.
