Highlighting our Team: Brad Caughell

Brad Caughell, Medical Laboratory Technologist, has been part of the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre (SLMHC) team for almost 17 years.

Through education and experience in the SLMHC laboratory, Brad says he was able to climb the ladder and grow his career at SLMHC.

“I started off as a junior bench tech. Through ten years of working the bench, and getting more education behind me, I was awarded the position of Senior Tech of Hematology back in 2014… A couple years after that I was given blood bank as well, so I’m basically responsible for half the lab,” he says.

Brad says working at SLMHC has resulted in unique opportunities and workplace independence that he likely wouldn’t have experienced elsewhere.

“SLMHC has been absolutely wonderful. The opportunities that SLMHC has given me, I would’ve never been able to find back in southern Ontario… From the get go, I was given a lot of autonomy. It gave me a chance to focus on what worked for me.”
