SLMHC Staying the Course with COVID-19 Precautions
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre (SLMHC) is staying the course with its visitor restrictions and following best practices set out by Ontario’s public health officials.
“At this time, our current visitor restrictions remain in place, and all policies such as mask wearing and screening at our entrances will continue,” says Heather Lee, President and CEO of SLMHC. “We know this hasn’t been an easy time for anyone and everyone at our ECU and hospital looks forward to this pandemic ending. We really thank our patients, clients, staff and physicians for their patience and commitment to health and safety.”
Yesterday, the province announced that hospitals meeting certain criteria are approved to resume non-emergent and non-urgent surgeries and procedures. SLMHC is preparing to implement a plan for resumption of these services and will begin to contact patients whose procedures were postponed or require booking, in accordance with the plan.
With the May long-weekend coming up, SLMHC joins our public health officials in reminding everyone that the stay-at-home order was extended until June 2.
“Stay home, and enjoy the weather and time with your family while adhering to the Ontario restrictions. As the Ontario government has stated, the stay-at-home order is in place to help save lives and prevent Ontario hospitals from being overwhelmed, as well as allow more time to vaccinate Ontarians. Our entire team at SLMHC appreciates and thanks everyone we serve for their patience and continued adherence to public health guidelines,” says Lee.
The current visitor restrictions are available to view on SLMHC’s COVID-19 page.
