Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre Identifies Improvement Priorities for 2013-14
Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre (SLMHC) strives to be a centre of excellence through care that is patient-centred, service-oriented and performance focused. Our 2013-2014 Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) integrates key improvement targets from our Patient Safety Plan, Strategic Plan and provincial quality improvement targets. The 2013-14 QIP demonstrates our ongoing commitment to doing what we do even better.
Health Quality Ontario has five quality dimensions:
SLMHC has identified high priority improvements in four of the five dimensions as follows:
Safety priorities include hand hygiene and medication reconciliation at admission.
Reducing staff turnover and improving our total financial margin are our priorities within the Effectiveness dimension.
Access to the right care, at the right place and right time is of utmost importance. Our access priority is to increase service availability.
SLMHC is a health care hub for northern First Nations. One of our patient-centred priorities is to increase staff time spent on patient-centred communications, specifically with people 60 years of age and older and those who don’t identify English as their first language.
Becoming a service-oriented organization is one of our strategic priorities. In 2013-14 we will be focusing on improving our customer service.
