Job Summary: The purchasing clerk orders and receives supplies for departmental managers as per hospital policy.


  • Minimum grade 12
  • WHIMIS, Transportation Dangerous Goods training required
  • Excellent computer skills including Excel, MS Word, database applications, email, and internet search engines
  • Strong mathematical aptitude, organizational skills, and knowledge of filing procedures
  • Good communication skills (written and oral)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be physically able to perform duties of the position including lifting and moving of incoming freight

Job Duties:

  • Performs procurement related activities for all hospital departments including consumable medical/surgical supplies, services, equipment and inventory through use of ORMED database system and in accordance to all applicable Government of Ontario established Procurement Directives
  • Applies correct financial coding to all procurement documents
  • Verifies contract prices for accuracy against existing contracts including Group Purchasing Contracts (GPO) and GHX exchange
  • Maintains and updates record keeping of the hospitals physical assets
  • Assists in shipping & receiving of incoming freight as required
  • Assists in filling and processing of Stores stocked item inventory orders for departments as required through the use of electronic barcode technology
  • Researches products and service information as requested through various formats
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Broader Public Sector Procurement (BPS) Directive an asset
Salary:$23.20 - $25.03 per hour. Benefits in accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement
