Clinical Supervisor – NADMIN 09/23
Job Summary: The Mental Health and Addictions Program Clinical Supervisor provides clinical supervision to MHAP staff through ongoing review of client treatment plans, debriefing, and coaching. The incumbent uses evaluation techniques and evidence based best practices to guide counsellors to develop and implement therapeutic treatment plans in a medical and community setting. The clinical supervisor will also be responsible to provide one on one, family and group psychotherapy to complex clients whose needs exceed the scope and experience of existing counselling staff. The Clinical Supervisor performs clinical duties requiring a level of expertise not available within the department
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Social Work, Psychology or other Behavioral Sciences from a recognized program preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in a mental health and addictions setting, including two (2) years administrative /supervisory experience.
- Must have an understanding of predominant approaches to counseling, group therapy and crisis intervention, Familiarity with research methodology.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver a psychosocial assessment and write a treatment plan.
- Ability to work well independently,
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal,
- Excellent organizational and planning skills,
- Ability to be discreet and maintain confidentiality
- Knowledge of and interest in First Nations culture
- CISD training and experience an asset
- Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (if a social worker) or another recognized professional counselling college is required.
- Current knowledge of child protection/ reportability requirements.
Job Duties:
- Responsible to provide direct counselling service and staff clinical supervision to ensure a high quality of care.
- Provide assessment, counselling, referrals, and group therapy.
- Provide intake assessment and crisis intervention
- Participate as a multidisciplinary team member with other counselors
- Administration/meetings, planning/development of work, direct services, consultation and evaluation of program.
- Provide mental health & addiction counselling and case management services in various hospital inpatient / outpatient and community-based settings in accordance with legislation, and Ministry of Health guidelines.
- Target group for these services will be across the lifespan from prenatal to seniors.
- Assesses individual needs and assists clients to improve functioning in the community.
- Works cooperatively and collaboratively with other members of the team.
- Provides services that are individualized and tailored to address clients’ current needs and preferences.
- Must adhere to organizational policies and procedures concerning cleaning, hand hygiene and the use of Personal Protective Equipment in support of Infection Control measures and attend training when necessary.
